North Washington Fire Protection District utilizes the Denver Regional Counsel of Governments (D.R.C.O.G.) written exam. This exam is given twice a year every year. Once the Dist. has an opening it will send a letter out to the applicants that have a predetermined passing score and which certifications the Dist. is requiring for the open position. The applicants will then have a pre determined time to send in a letter of intent for the position the Dist. is hiring for. The applicants will then go through a physical agility course, Practical exam, Oral boards, and then a final Chief interview.
When the initial process is complete the applicant is given a conditional job offer based on the outcome of a psychological exam given by an outside source. After all of these steps are complete there will be a job offer given to the individual/s based on the number of openings the District has available. Depending on the situation the new hire will then have to go through a full firefighter academy or a three week orientation academy.
