Requirements for a Reserve Firefighter:
- Be on the DRCOG hiring list.
- State of Colorado FFI certification
- State of Colorado E.M.T. Certification (National Registry not required)
- Valid Colorado driver license
- Pass hiring process for the NWFD including Physical agility, Oral board, Chief Oral Board, Psychological evaluation, Medical Evaluation/drug testing
Fee of $800.00 payable to NWFD
- After two years of service as a Reserve Firefighter this money will be refunded to you. If the reserve does not meet the 2 year commitment all monies are forfeited to the NWFD.
- You are paid a stipend for each shift worked, attending training and have an E.M.T. certification
Reserve is required to:
- To follow the NWFD SOPs, rules and Regulations
- Work 3 12 hours shifts per month. 0700-1900 or 1900-0700. All shifts are picked by you on the training day of the month prior
- Attend monthly training usually 3rd Sat of each month-
- Learn District SOPs- complete the phases to work on a medic unit
- Maintain Colorado certifications, driver’s license
- Meet Department Physical Fitness requirements
